Enugu Rangers held Al-Masry to a 1-1 draw in a dead rubber Group A 2019-20 Total CAF Confederation Cup clash at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday evening.
The hosts had already suffered elimination from this season’s competition despite a 1-0 win over group winners Pyramids FC last weekend.
In contrast, Al Masry booked their ticket into the knockout stages alongside Egyptian rivals Pyramids with victory over FC Nouadhibou, who finished the campaign bottom of Group A and without a win.
The visitors opened the scoring in Enugu through an early Mahmoud Wadi strike, but Ifeanyi George restored parity soon after as he found the back of the net for the second week in succession.
The quarter-final stage will commence on the 1st of March with the second-leg to follow a week later. (CAF)
