Dakadda Football Club have been told to maintain the current tempo which has seen them remain the country’s only unbeaten team on the road, in the on-going Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, gave the charge while addressing the players and officials of Dakkada FC on Thursday in the Conference Room of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, the Governor commended them for the feat, and pledged the determination of government to support the team to glorious heights.
He announced the up-to-date complete payment of all match bonuses due the team and took up the medical bills of all of their injured players.
In his remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, expressed appreciation to the Governor for sponsoring Dakkada FC and urged them to reciprocate the Governor’s kind gesture with positive results on the field.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Dakkada FC, Coach Aniedi Dickson, pledged, on behalf of the players and officials, to sustain their highflyer status and commended the Governor for what he described as “the unprecedented support” they have so far enjoyed from him.
Equally in attendance was the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwa-Udofia, as well as the State Council Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Amos Etuk.
Highlight of the event was the Governor’s announcement of Christmas and New Year’s cash and gift items to the team.
Fifth-placed Dakkada will this Sunday play host to 17th-placed Adamawa United at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, in a Match Day 12 fixture of the NPFL.
