All is set for the final of this year’s Chief Francis Omatseye Peace Cup final between FC Garage and Ighogbadu Professionals.
Captain Terry and his FC Garage men will be defending their title at the Warri City Stadium today, Friday, December 27, 2019.
Both teams are familiar foes but Ighogbadu are usually underdogs in their meetings.
The tournament organiser, ex-international Henry Dittmiya, former Rangers and NPA winger, says the tournament is for players within the ages of 40 years and above.
He further informed that several ex-international and professional footballers are expected to be on parade, including Harry Blankson, Darlington Omodiagbe, Kenneth Fiakpa, Kingsley Akposusu Nojomo, Ochuko Ojobo, and Usiaho Omodiagbe – all of whom would be on parade for Garage FC.
Dittmiya also disclosed that Ighogbadu Professionals will parade ex-international players like Taiye Alonge, Sunday Buluku, Samson Obogu a.k.a Okprize, and Ezeikel Akpofure, among others.
“Many prizes will be given out at the end of the day as the sponsor has increased the winning money and other individual prizes,” Dittmiya said.
Daily Sports learnt that the winner of the tournament will go home with N200,000 and a giant trophy, while the second prize is N150,000 and third prize N100,000.
Professional individual awards include the following:
Highest goal scorer,
Best keeper
Best defender
MVP
Oldest man of the tournament
Best goal of the tournament
The final game will kick off at 4pm while the third place game between Ekpan All Stars and All Stars Sapele kicks off at 1pm at the same venue.
Tournament sponsor Chief Francis Omatseye and other top sports personalities are expected at the final.
