LMC in talks with Zenith Bank, Etisalat over NPFL sponsorship rights

By Daily Sports on February 13, 2016

The League Management Company (LMC) has started discussions with prospective corporate bodies, prominent among them Zenith Bank and Etisalat telecommunications, over the sponsorship of the league after Globacom failed to renew their deal.

Daily Sports learnt on good authority that one of the country’s leading commercial banks, Zenith, and telecommunications giants Etisalat have indicated their interest in becoming the new sponsors of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The LMC, rising from its Annual General Meeting last week in Uyo, announced the expiration of its contract with title sponsors, Globacom, as well as a reclassification of sponsorship packages, following the end of the 2016 Super Four pre-season tournament.

The LMC and Globacom signed a three-year sponsorship agreement worth N1.9 billion in 2013. In a statement released on Wednesday, the LMC announced that the title sponsorship of the league has now been thrown open to “all interested corporate bodies.”
