The first Nigerian to get to the finish line at the 2016 Lagos City Marathon held last Saturday, February 6, is already looking forward to the next edition.
Philibus Sharubutu told Daily Sports that he will like to compete again “by God’s grace.”
Sharubutu, winner of the marathon event of the 18th National Sports Festival in Kaduna, expressed gratitude for being the first Nigerian to get to the finish line during the international event swept by Kenyans.
According to Sharubutu, who won for himself a million naira, “I am very happy to be the first Nigerian, and I am saying ‘thank you’. The marathon is well organised, it is a good marathon.”
The humble long distance runner, however, said he believes that he is not better than many other athletes and stressed that he is thankful for emerging the Nigerian winner last Saturday.
