No Nigerian got a mention in the Confederation of African Football’s best eleven of the just concluded African Nations Championship staged in Rwanda.
The Super Eagles crashed out in the group stage of the competition , and unlike the 2014 edition where the country had four players on parade, none of Sunday Oliseh’s men got a mention in the squad dominated by Congo DR players.
The Leopards had four players; Mali supplied three with Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire boasting of two players each.
Congo DR goalkeeper Ley Matampa was picked in goal, behind a back line featuring compatriot Joël Kimwaki , Abdoul Danté of Mali and Guinea’s Mohamed Youla.
The most valuable player of the competition, Mechack Elia, led the midfield that also paraded N’Guessan Serge of Cote d’Ivoire, Mali’s Hamidou Sinayoko and Ibrahima Sankhon of Guinea.
Jonathan Bolingi of DR Congo and Mali’s Sekou Koita who only got one goal in the competition made the forward line.
However, Nigeria got a consolation as Chisom Chikatara made the reserve of the competition’s best according to CAF.
