Former member of the Delta State Sports Commission, Hon. Ejiro Etoroma, has applauded the Super Eagles’ gaffer Gernot Rohr for being able to discover young and hungry players that have shown that they have all it takes to don the national colours. He gave the commendation while commenting on Super Eagles’ recent performances in their friendly matches against Ukraine and Brazil, where the three time African Champions pulled draws, 2-2 against Ukraine and 1-1 against five time world champions, Brazil.
According to him, the Franco-German football tactician has done well to discover and infuse young and talented Nigerians to the National team, the Super Eagles and that the players have not disappointed having proved their qualities.
He explained that the young players have shown that they hungry and wanted to be known, hence they give their all when fielded in any of the two friendly matches.
Etoroma, therefore, called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to encourage Rohr in his bid to build a strong national team for the country by making available all that he requires to carry out his duties without let or hindrance.
Etoroma said: “I must commend the Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr, for discovery new young and talented players and infusing them into the team.
“Also, I must commend him for the results of the two friendly matches the team recently played against Ukraine and Brazil where the matches ended in stalemates.
“The two results came as a result of hard work because the two teams that played against them are no push overs. Brazil of course are five time world champions, while you can't wish away Ukraine. So, I commend him for the good work he is doing in making sure that he builds a strong national team for the country.”
Continuing, Etoroma said: “I want to urge the Amaju Melvin Pinnick led executive board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to make the work of the manager easy for him.
“The NFF should provide him with all materials he requires to carry out his responsibilities. It is obvious that the Manager is determined to build a strong national team for country and as a result the Federation should not be a clog in the wheel of progress by not providing him with what he requires to do his job.”
It is recalled that recently, Gernot Rohr lamented the inability of the NFF to help him in his job by not doing what they supposed to do on time securing visas to the players and the extension of invitation to players on time saying that such a thing should not be something that the Federation should not be able to do on time.
