MFM, Enyimba play out another stalemate

By Daily Sports on August 7, 2017

MFM FC and Enyimba fired blanks in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the Agege Stadium in Lagos on Sunday. The game ended 0-0.

Players of both teams huddled up in the centre circle after the match for prayers in an act that reflected the fairness of the result on both sides as Enyimba did enough to get a point against MFM in a goalless match.

It was a result that considerably dented the title aspirations of both sides but Enyimba would rue moments in each half when captain Mfon Udoh was clean on goal only to cut back and have the chance snuffed out, while MFM would argue Adekunle Adegboyega should have had a penalty given him rather than a foul for simulation in a first half they dominated. TV replays showed there was no contact between Enyimba goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai and the attacker.

Enyimba is only the second team to deny MFM all three points at home this season.

MFM remain in second place with 56 points, three behind leaders Plateau United. Enyimba stay in fourth on 51 points.
