Lobi Stars of Makurdi are targeting to return to continental football action, the club’s Vice Chairman, Mr Mike Idoko, has disclosed.
He recently told Daily Sports in Asaba, the Delta State capital: “Like other teams will say, they all want to play on the continent. We planned and almost got it last time but the loss of our Technical Adviser a week to the NPFL Classification playoffs had a psychological effect on the team, which made us lose out. But this season it is our desire to return Lobi Stars to the continent and I know by the special grace of God plus the quality of the players we have recruited with a coach like Gbenga Ogunbote we will go back to the continent.”
He continued by saying that though Lobi Stars are not yet there, they will continue to strive to be the best within and outside the country.
“Lobi Stars,” Idoko said, “is a team in progress. Aside the teams that partook on the continent I don’t think any team is ready for the commencement of the new season. Though we have produced some eye-catching results during our pre-season tournaments we will not be carried away as I believe that the coaching crew know what to do in order to get the team ready to challenge for honours next season.”
