Leipzig Fight Back To Hold German Champions Bayern

By Daily Sports on September 15, 2019

Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig came from behind to draw with champions Bayern Munich and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Robert Lewandowski slotted an early opener from Thomas Muller's ball.

But Emil Forsberg equalised with a penalty after Lucas Hernandez fouled Yussuf Poulsen.

Both sides went close to a winner, with Marcel Sabitzer's long-range shot for Leipzig saved by Manuel Neuer and Lewandowski heading wide late on.

Poland striker Lewandowski, 31, is the first player to score seven goals in the opening four games of a Bundesliga season since 2005.

RB Leipzig, who are unbeaten under Julian Nagelsmann, remain top - two points above Bayern, who have won the past seven titles.

Earlier, second-placed Borussia Dortmund beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 with captain Marco Reus scoring twice.

Paco Alcacer volleyed them into the lead and the striker then dummied Jadon Sancho's cross and Reus scored.

Sancho’s cross was parried to Raphael Guerreiro for the third, before Reus scored again in injury time. (BBC)
