The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted the Enyimba Stadium an exceptional approval to host next weekend’s Champions League fixture against Al Hilal.
The decision by Africa’s football governing body was conveyed in a letter signed by its deputy general secretary, football and development, and addressed to the general secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.
The decision means that Enyimba, who are currently Nigeria’s only representatives in the Champions League, will enjoy the full presence of their supporters when they host the Sudanese in the second preliminary round first leg match on Sunday, September 15.
Aggregate winners of the tie will proceed to the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition, while the losers will drop to the Confederation Cup.
