Ex-volleyball international player, Prince Babatunde Omisore has been nominated by Osun State Volleyball Association to be their state chairman.
In a statement made available to newsmen over the weekend, the state volleyball association disclosed that Prince Omisore’s selfless contribution to volleyball in Nigeria put him ahead of other individuals.
The statement added that the association would be allowed to operate independently and to fend for its survival without waiting for any assistance financially from government.
Referring directly to Omisore, the statement read: “A thorough review of the candidature of eminent personalities aspiring for this post revealed that your name and identity recorded the highest recommendation due to your past records of achievement in the sport.
“Your past commitments to the sports financially, morally and in other capacities had put you in good stead with the hope that you would be inspired to continue in like manner upon your assumption in office.”
The statement further said: “Sports associations are put in place to assist and compliment government efforts in the area of proper development, organization, funding and promotion of their respective sports.
“Your association would be allowed to operate independently and to fend for its survival without waiting for any assistance, financially or otherwise from government or any Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs) and would be expected to render an account of its stewardship at the expiration of its tenure.”
