Jose Peresie: Moonlight Tales According To Ibrahim Gusau

By Victor Enyinnaya on June 26, 2023

In Nigeria everything and anything goes. No one takes any responsibility no matter how grievous or otherwise.  Just last week, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau said that the fate of Super Eagles Portuguese technical hand, Jose Peresie’s fate would be determined by fans.

When I read that story which we equally published in Daily Sports gave him out as tales story tell.  Note pointedly that Gusau is playing the role of a fairy tales teller of the first and worst order.

For the recordes, this Ibrahim Gusau as an establishment man has been in the football house that has reduced Nigerian football growth at the national level to nothingness.  Every decision that brought the employment of Super Eagles technical adviser he has been part and parcel. Therefore one is in complete loss, like most football analysts and stakeholders why he went by that hypocritical statement.

Gusau was there with Amaju Pinnick when Gernot Rohr was smuggled through the back door to snatch the plum job of the Super Eagles.

The expense of highly qualified foreign hand earlier interviewed by the NFF technical committee then by former NFF executive committee member, Chris Green. Amaju, Gusau and Anyansi Agwu midwifed the employment of half baked Rohr who came after so many experiments queried with NFF high command we hard all sorts or accustom and counter accession from both parties and at the end of the day,  Rohr was paid off.

Ibrahim Gusau and his cohorts after much hide and seek game experiments with Augustine Eguaveon and company failed flat which of course cost the country the qualification for the last World Cup and early exit from the last AFCON.  In a facing move again, after interviewing experienced and proven work rate with solid track records of results was again not employed as very low rated Jose Peresie was engaged by Amaju Pinnick and Ibrahim Gusau.

Sadly instead of Gusau to come out boldly to address the naughty issue, he came out and insulted the teeming Nigerian football fans.  My curiosity is when the fans have become part and parcel of decisive factor in the employment of Super Eagles coaches whether foreign or local?

It will not be overstatement to come to conclusion that Ibrahim Gusau was simply mischievous. He can equally be and safely likened to as a comedian entertaining his audience with dried jokes. He can equally be described as a joker of the year.

By making such unwholesome statement further left as a claimant to the administration of the noble sport. Gusau ridiculed himself as one bereft of fresh ideas for the game he helped to throw into the mud over these years.  It further showed that his long years in the highest football governing body in the  country which he now heads remain wasteful.

Really, you cannot give what you don’t have; Ibrahim Gusau did not waste time manifesting it.  Pity, Nigeria is again in this one chance vehicle with Ibrahim Gusau as driver.  Nigerian football is in for it again.  It is a gimmick, for Gusau to pass the decision to sack or not to sack Peresie showed the conspiracy against Nigerians and her numerous football fans. This is falsehood and deceitful act on the part of who should be taken seriously whenever he speaks on football matters.

Nigeria that is richly blessed in all spheres has been unlucky to have egg heads managing her affairs both in government and critical government agencies over these years. Amaju Pinnick after reducing the football at the Super Eagles level to nothingness handed over to his bed fellow to continue the rot.

It served the country right. This is one country that never rewards merit.  Such has been her greatest undoing.  One still wonders when fans have become instrumental to determine when Super Eagles chief coach whether foreign or local are to be signed.

One does not need to look too far to know that Ibrahim Gusau may not achieve much.  He was privy to how Rohr and Peresie emerged to head Super Eagles.  As an establishment man he was just playing out expensive joke on the sensitivity of Nigerians.

The same fans that have been shouted their voices hoarse that Peresie has no technical knowhow to handle a high caliber team like the Super Eagles are the one Gusau was asking for advice.  It has gone to show that he is not ready to show the Portuguese coach the exit door.  This is a coach that has brought Super Eagles down so badly.

We are watching Ibrahim and his executive committee.  He knows that Nigeria is a country of paradox and contradictions.  We will continue to follow up this trending huge joke from Ibrahim Gusau.  Keep shooting decisively till next week.  Meanwhile we wait!!
