Franck Ribery has joined Fiorentina on a free transfer after the French winger ended his 12-year spell with Bayern Munich.
It has been a busy summer for La Viola after they were bought by United States businessman and New York Cosmos owner Rocco B. Commisso, having only survived relegation on the final day of the previous campaign.
“I am here with my family,” Ribery said after landing in Florence before undergoing a medical.
“We are doing something all together. I have already spoken to [former Bayern teammate] Luca Toni, who told me this was a great club and a beautiful city.”
Ribery, 36, who joined Bayern from Marseille in 2007, won nine Bundesliga titles in Germany as well as six German Cups.
In 2013, he was part of the side which won the Champions League as part of a Treble as well as the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup later in the year; and was nominated for the Ballon d’Or that campaign.
Ribery will become Fiorentina’s fifth permanent summer signing, following Riccardo Baroni, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Aleksa Terzic and Erick Pulgar.
They have also brought in Milan Badelj and Pol Lirola on loan, while keeping hold of in-demand players Federico Chiesa and Nikola Milenkovic. (ESPN)
