The Head Coach of Free Tigers Football Club, Tega Okorogri, has said that the 2019 edition of the Bet9ja Royal Cup is an opportunity for grassroots talents in Delta State to shine.
Speaking shortly after finishing the registration process for his club in Udu, Coach Okorogri stated that his side relish the challenge of competing against the very best of grassroots teams in the state, praising the Local Organizing Committee for limiting the number of professional players per team to three.
“This competition is a good opportunity for grassroots talents to showcase themselves,” said Coach Okorogri emphatically.
“We relish the challenge of taking part in it,” he stated. “We look forward to facing the very best in Delta State, since there would only be three professionals per team. Kudos to the organisers for that.”
Coach Okorogri urged teams yet to register to do so quickly and take advantage of this tournament to help their players in the game.
“I implore other teams here to register,” said Coach Okorogri. “I learnt that registration will end on the 24th of this month (August, 2019). Let them take advantage of this tournament.
“For the teams registered already, let them work hard and prepare well. Let them play fair and let’s enjoy good football at the grassroots.”
Free Tigers Football Club was founded in 2016 and they will participate in the Royal Cup for the first time in their history.
When the competition starts formally on September 14, 2019, Free Tigers will lock horns with other teams in the qualifying matches in Udu Local Government Area for a place in the group stage.
The draws for the 2019 Bet9ja Royal Cup will hold at Wellington Hotels in Effurun, Delta State.
