Napoli offer Osimhen pay rise

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 30, 2023

Napoli are reportedly set to offer Victor Osimhen a new contract as they look to keep the striker despite strong interest in him from elsewhere.

Manchester United and Chelsea are amongst the clubs that are tracking Osimhen, who is the top scorer in Serie A this season with 25 goals.

According to Calciomercato, Napoli owner is eager to keep Osimhen at the club and is doing his utmost to convince him to stay.

Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco have also been linked with the prolific 24-year-old.

Napoli are preparing to offer Osimhen, who currently earns £3.9m a year, a lucrative new deal. The contract would also include a release clause of £138m.

Osimhen has played a key part in Napoli winning the Serie A title this season, with the club being crowned champions for the first time since the 1989-90 campaign.

Since joining from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has scored 58 goals in 100 appearances for Napoli.

After winning Serie A with Luciano Spalletti’s side, Osimhen was reluctant to discuss speculation about his future.

He told Sky Sport Italia: ‘I feel like a leader and I never give up. Future? Now I want to enjoy this historic moment, this is not the time to think about my future.’

United boss Erik ten Hag wants to boost his side’s attacking options this summer, with Osimhen one of the players that he is targeting.

Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic is also under consideration.
