Adeyemo Pledges Support to Table Tennis Star Saheed Idowu

By Daily Sports on August 13, 2019

Sports philanthropist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, has expressed readiness to support table tennis star Saheed Idowu in his quest to win international laurels.

Chief Adeyemo, also known as Igboho Osa, pledged the support when the 2012 Olympian recently paid a courtesy visit to his office in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He said his dream is to see the Oyo-born player rank amongst the best players in the world.

The Ibadan-based sports philanthropist said: “I am commitment to support Saheed Idowu in order to become one of the best table tennis players. I believe has the capacity to be great and surpass his contemporaries.”

He further said: “For a player that has attended two All African Games winning a bronze and silver in the doubles event at Maputo and Brazzaville, I have a strong conviction he has more medals in him.

“Over the couple of years, we have supported football and it has not given us our desired goal; it is time for people like me and other Oyo indigenes to rally round Saheed Idowu.”

In his response, 2018 ITTF African Cup semi-finalist Saheed Idowu promised to be a good ambassador of Oyo State and Nigeria.

He called on other prominent individuals in the country to emulate the giant strides of Chief Sunday Adeyemo in promoting Nigerian table tennis, adding: “Nigerian sports would have become advanced if others also give our sport the kind of massive support Chief Sunday Adeyemo has given us.”
