How Akwa Starlets Humiliated 3SC in Nationwide League Promotion Play-Off (PLUS: All the Results)

Akwa Starlets FC of Akwa Ibom State on Monday hwmmered 3SC FC of Ibadan, Oyo State, by three goals to nil at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State.

Akwa Starlets outplayed 3SC and established a two-goal advantage in the first half with goals by Femi Ajayi in the 20th and 26th minutes.

The second half began with 3SC piling pressure on Akwa Starlets whose defence line and goalkeeper, however, aborted every goal move.

Akwa Starlets completed the rout in 93 minutes through Ekpen Aniekan who struck before the end of the five minutes of added time.

With this victory, Akwa Starlets have gained promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) along with Warri Wolves, Adamawa United and Jigawa Golden Stars.

Daily Sports reports that Adamawa United last featured in the Premier League in 2007 while Jigawa Golden Stars last featured in 2012 and Warri Wolves in 2016. Akwa Starlets have never featured in the elite league.
