FIFA accidentally leaks 2015 Ballon d’Or winners

By Daily Sports on January 7, 2016

Many football fans have been wondering if FIFA accidentally leaked the names of the Ballon d’Or winners a week early on Wednesday.

The world’s governing body briefly placed Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and German international Celia Sasic on their website of Ballon d’Or winners, alongside the year 2015.

The ceremony is not scheduled to take place until January 11 but if both players were to be named as winners, it would not be a surprise.

Messi had another stellar year for the La Liga giants, as his 48 goals in 53 games spearheaded the Catalans’ treble-winning season.

He is on the three-man shortlist alongside teammate Neymar and Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Meanwhile, Sasic won the 2015 Women’s World Cup with Germany and was top scorer for Frankfurt as they won the Champions League before retiring in July, aged 27. (Yahoo!)
