NFF Intervenes in FC Taraba Crisis, To Offset Players’ Salaries, Match Bonuses

By Daily Sports on December 19, 2015

Succor seems to be on the way for players of FC Taraba, as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has intervened in their on-going salaries skirmishes, which have compelled the players to relocate to the government house.

Speaking with journalists yesterday in Jalingo, the club chairman, Daniel Ishaya Gani, who just return to the state from than Annual General Meeting of the NFF in Abuja, said the soccer house had agreed to offset the salary bills of the players, which the state has been unable to pay. He said the money would be deducted from the monthly subvention of the state.

Among other options made available to the state during the said meeting, was for them to as a matter of urgency, address the plights of the players or risk ban from participating in football activities.

The NFF, according to Gani, has resolved that the “League Management Committee (LMC) should get the bank details of the players and commence their payment.”

Gani was optimistic that the agony of the players would soon be a thing of the past. “The issue has become a national issue. The plight of the players has been taken over by NFF.”

On why he left the state to attend the NFF AGM when his house was on fire, he said: “The sanction from the NFF on us would have been much if we were not in that meeting to present our own side of the story to them.”

For the past four days, the players have relocated their belongings to the entrance gate of the government house, sleeping in the cold in protest over their unpaid salaries and match bonuses for 12 months. (LEADERSHIP)
