Galatasaray ended their six-game winless run after defeating Kayserispor 3-0 in Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig encounter with Henry Onyekuru scoring two of those.
Fatih Terim’s side travelled to the Kadir Has Stadium on the back of unimpressive results, with midweek’s 2-0 loss to Schalke 04 in the Champions League the latest.
That was the sixth consecutive time they had failed to pick up the maximum three points but, 18 minutes into the tie, the winger scored the curtain raiser to hand them hope of a change in fortune. Onyekuru, recently handed a call-up to replace injured Nigeria first-choice striker Odion Ighalo for November games, extended his side’s lead in the 75th minute. The Everton loanee was yellow-carded for taking off his shirt while celebrating what was his fourth league goal of the season.Omer Bayram, off a Mariano assist, completed a comprehensive away win for Terim’s men with a late strike. Prior to completing the rout, Tiago Lopes had been sent off after receiving his second booking.
The result saw the Yellow-Reds, now on 23 points, move up to the second position in the log, behind Istanbul Basaksehir who lead with four points.
They play Konyaspor next and will hope Onyekuru and Co. come to the party again. (Goal)
