AFCON qualifier: Withdrawals rock Bafana Bafana’s preparations for Seychelles

By Daily Sports on October 10, 2018

Bafana Bafana’s preparations for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Seychelles were rocked by two early withdraws on Tuesday.

Coach Stuart Baxter had to call up Cape Town City defender Thamsanqa Mkhize and Orlando Pirates’ Thembinkosi Lorch to replace the injured duo of Thapelo Morena (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Vincent Pule (Orlando Pirates) who were released yesterday.

Pule and Morena both received knocks over the weekend and the coach had them assessed by the medical team and the prognosis was not good.

Bafana Bafana play Seychelles on Saturday at FNB Stadium (Kick-off at 3pm) and leave for the Indian Ocean Island the following day on Sunday for the return game on Tuesday, 16 October.

Bafana Bafana are currently second on the log standings having beaten Nigeria 2-0 away and drawing 0-0 with Libya at Moses Mabhida Stadium last month, a result midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo said was not the worst result in the bigger scheme of things. (SuperSport)
