Nwankwo Kanu announces star-studded charity football match in aid of The Kanu Heart Foundation

By Daily Sports on August 31, 2018

Arsenal legend Nwankwo Kanu has announced that a star-studded charity football match will take place at 4pm on September 30th, 2018, at The Hive Stadium in Barnet, a tantalising encounter between the ‘Premier League Masters’ and the ‘African All-Stars’ that will undoubtedly draw a vast, avid crowd in aid of an admirable cause – The Kanu Heart Foundation.

The Petrolex Kanu Cup, in association with Masters Football, will feature a glittering array of former Gunners stars including Sol Campbell, Lauren, Robert Pires, Gilberto Silva, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue, and all the day’s proceedings will benefit Kanu’s mission to build a new cardiac centre in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria, with the fundamental goal of reducing costly travel expenses for children in need of life saving cardiovascular treatment and assistance.

The centre will also house accommodation at a much more affordable rate for families to facilitate during their child’s stay, a commendable prospect that certainly makes the cost of treatment manageable and plausible.

The Kanu Heart Foundation was established in 2000 and has since helped hundreds of children with debilitating heart irregularities, and as Kanu underwent major surgery in 1996 to replace an aortic valve, the enigmatic striker and humanitarian understands first-hand the pressures and strains, emotionally and physically, a cardiovascular disease exerts onto an individual and their family.

With so many of the widely coveted ‘Les Invincibles’ fold set to take to the turf once again, it’s anticipated that more awe-inspiring aces are to be announced over the coming weeks to accompany Campbell and his former teammates, a superb occasion that’s destined to capture the imaginations of everyone in attendance.
