Yusuf to miss Petrojet Clash

By Daily Sports on July 31, 2014

Zamalek coach Christian Gross has left out Nigerian midfielder Marouf Yusuf from his 23-man squad for his side’s opening match of the 2018/19 Egyptian Premier League season against Petrojet on Tuesday.

Yusuf’s name was also conspicuously missing in the 29-man squad ahead of the Egyptian Premier League season after he failed to sign a new five year deal offered him at the club

According to an Egyptian website, Kingfut, Yusuf wanted a two-year contract only, which made the negotiations came to an end.

The Nigerian is poised to leave the White Knights with Saudi side Al Wehda on the verge of announcing his capture on free transfer.

Moruf Yusuf joined the White Knights from fellow Egyptian side Ittihad El-Shorta in the summer of 2014 and since then he has played 83 matches for them, scoring twice and assisting 8 times.

The 23-year-old was part of the Zamalek team which achieved the domestic double in 2015, as well as winning Egypt Cup last season with the Whites.

Zamalek have finished last season in fourth place, while Petrojet came in 12th place, and both sides will aim to begin the season on a high note on Tuesday. (Complete Sports)
