Former Super Eagles’ striker, Henry Nwosu (MON), has called for caution over the crisis rocking the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). According to the Imo State born ex-international, there is every need for all stakeholders in Nigerian Football to work together for the development and growth of the game. He explained that there is every need for all to be cautious as it relates to the leadership struggle at the Glasshouse especially as the matter is in court, so that no one should be charged for contempt of Court. Nwosu made the call in exclusive telephone interview with dailysportsng.com. “I think we should be cautious of the way we discuss about the leadership crisis of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). I am saying this because the matter is already in court. We are aware that any matter in court is not discussed or one taking a position before the court delivers judgment,” Nwosu explained. “I want to appeal to all stakeholders in Nigerian Football to come together so that the game could be moved forward. There is no way we can develop the game with all these crises that we are always having in Nigeria Football. “I believe that whatever the problem may be, when we come together we will be able to resolve the challenges. “I know that football and sports matters in general are not resolved in regular courts. Those of us in football or sports we have our own courts called Courts of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) where any matter relating to sports are resolved. “CAS is not like our regular courts. In CAS, we do not have judges like we have in regular courts. They are experienced and upright individuals would sit and hear the grievances of both parties and delivers judgment,” Nwosu explained. Speaking further, Nwosu said those who were interested in Amaju’s job ought to had exercised patience since his tenure remained just about two months to elapse and then they could throw their harts into the ring to test their popularity with the stakeholders who had voting rights at the NFF Congress. He described as unfortunate the recurrent crisis in Nigerian football saying there is no way the game could grow and develop with the many crisis that the game is engulfed in all the time. “Again, I would have loved that those who are interested in Amaju job exercised restrain to enable him finish his tenure which is just about two months to elapse. “If by the end of Amaju’s tenure those who want to take over his job should go and obtain forms, fill and submit. Then, they will go in test their popularity in the NFF’s elections. “So, as for me all these crises are not necessary. We should be thinking of how to move the game forward,” Nwosu said. •Photo shows Ex-Eagles’ striker Henry Nwosu (MON)
