Dosu lauds Uzoho for his heroics in Russia

By Augustine Kalu on July 20, 2018

Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medallist in the football event, Joseph Dosu, has been showering praises on Super Eagles goalkeeper at the just-ended 2018 Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) that held in Russia.

According to Dosu, Uzoho did very well in Russia to the extent that many people did not know that he wasn’t in the picture until a few months to the World Cup.

“I think before the World Cup we have been crying we don’t have goalkeeper, and Uzoho came from nowhere, I saw at the World Cup.

“If you compare him to David Gael who has done well for his country and Manchester United, I think that young boy has done well.

“I am very proud of him. His performance justified the confidence the technical crew reposed in him by making the No1 goalkeeper ahead of the older keepers like Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi.

“I think that he has done so well and he is growing. And with time he will have more confidence as a goalkeeper. I am impressed with his performance at the Mundial,” Dosu said.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama and Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, to commence the process of airlifting Nigerians who travelled to Russia for the FIFA 2018 World Cup and are stranded there.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Monday, said Buhari was unhappy with activities of some unscrupulous travel agents who cancelled the fans return tickets and abandoned them to their fate in faraway Russia.

Shehu said the presidential directive is in line with the policy of the current administration; to ensure the welfare of all Nigerians, in every part of the world.

President Buhari’s administration had, on several occasions, ensured the safe return of Nigerians from foreign countries, including Libya and other conflict zones.

According to the statement, the Ministers of Aviation and Foreign Affairs have already taking steps to bring back those stranded.
