Tennis Pro fined $17,000 for masturbating with water bottle

By Daily Sports on June 26, 2018

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has been fined £13,190 ($17,500) over an obscene gesture involving a water bottle this weekend.

Kyrgios, 23, was caught miming the act of masturbation with the plastic container at the Queen’s Club Championships in London during a match he lost to Marin Cilic (7-6 7-6).

The fine, ordered by the Association of Tennis Professionals, came as a consequence of “unsportsmanlike conduct,” which was caught on live TV and has since gone viral in social media.

In the questionable clip, Kyrgios can be seen sitting on the courtside before shaking his water bottle.

He then squeezed the bottle, squirting water out to the ground.

BBC, which was airing the match, was forced into an on-air apology.

Kyrgios, born in Canberra, is the son of a Greek man and a Malaysian princess, Norlaila, who was born to the Selangor royal family. The latter dropped the title when she moved to Australia.

Apparently, Kyrgios has been involved in several controversies, including tanking and verbal abuse. Tanking is the act of losing a match on purpose, which he claimed to have “probably” done in eight tournaments.

Kyrgios’s obscene gesture also came after a number of expletives caught during his earlier match against Kyle Edmund, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.  (Nextshark.com)
