Stephen Keshi Memorial Cup: Sporting Dreams FC cruise to final of second major tournament of the year

By Nelson Dafe on June 7, 2018

Ex- Nigerian internationals are putting together an interesting football competition in honor of late Super Eagles Coach Stephen League who sadly passed on last year.

The under 17 tournament has been a revelation as grassroots teams around the country gathered in Benin City, Edo State to battle for honors.

Now the competition has reached its final stage with Abuja-based Sporting Dreams FC beating hard fighting Aidia Sports academy 1-0 in the semi-final played at the Paragon field in the GRA of Brain City.

Sporting Dreams players showed calm and patience to open up Aidia Sports and this they did midway in the second half when an exquisite through pass was slotted home calmly to seal a place in the final where they will play against BJ Foundation who hammered Solo Boys FC of Abia 3-0 in the other one-sided semi-final. This is Sporting Dreams second final of the year in a major youth competition.

Earlier this year, they reached the final of the Bayern Cup sponsored by German Giants Bayern Munich in Nigeria.

Sporting Dreams have a number of very exciting players, some of whom are heavily tipped to make the current Golden Eaglets squad.
