Real Sociedad have named Asier Garitano as their new head coach.
The 48-year-old Basque has signed a deal tying him to the Spanish club until June 30, 2021, Sociedad announced on their website.
He replaces Imanol Alguacil, who had been in temporary charge since Eusebio Sacristan was sacked in March. Sociedad finished 12th in La Liga this season, having been sixth last term.
Garitano had spent the last five years in charge of surprise package Leganes, guiding Los Pepineros from the third tier to the Spanish top flight for the first time in their history.
Under Garitano, Leganes also reached the semifinals of the Copa del Rey for the first time this year, knocking out neighbours Real Madrid in the process. (ESPN)
