Alexandre Lacazette admits Arsenal’s players are fighting for their futures following Arsene Wenger’s decision to stand down at the end of the season.
The long-serving Frenchman confirmed last Friday that he would end his 22-year tenure with 12 months still remaining on his contract.
Arsenal have been linked with a string of potential new managers, including former players Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira, as well as the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Tuchel and Max Allegri.
Whoever eventually succeeds Wenger, Lacazette fears there could be major upheaval in the summer with nobody guaranteed to be a major part of the new manager’s plans.
He said: ‘We want to keep going & be good because we know that a new manager is coming, so maybe everything will change.
“We don’t know if everyone can stay in the club.”
Lacazette has been in excellent form since his return from a six-week injury lay-off, scoring seven goals in his last seven matches in all competitions.
The France international has been left out of the squad for Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford, however, with Thursday’s make or break Europa League semi-final second leg tie against Atletico Madrid in mind.
Whatever the outcome in the Spanish capital, Lacazette is thankful Wenger brought him to the Emirates Stadium after he came close to signing for Atletico last summer before they were slapped with a six-month transfer ban.
“For every French person, Arsene Wenger is a great manager,” he added.
“He was 22 years in the club so he has a good image in France and for a player like me we want to finish well for him.
“I saw him before I signed and we talked for a long time because it was a big decision to change my life.
“I’m always thankful to him because he believed in me to come from France and go to Arsenal.” (Metro UK)
