Aigbogun: Why I Left My Job At Enyimba

By Daily Sports on July 29, 2018

Immediate past head coach at Enyimba International of Aba, Paul Aigbogun has explained that he opted to leave The People’s Elephant’s’ top job in order to concentrate fully on his assignment with the Nigerian under 20 team, Flying Eagles.

Though Aigbogun had declared at the commencement of his national team assignment that he could mix both jobs together, the England trained gaffer has apparently come to the realisation that it cannot be possible.

Last weekend, Aigbogun qualified the Flying Eagles to next year’s U20 AFCON in style, with a 5-0 win at Agege Stadium, Lagos against Mauritania, to secure a 6-1 on aggregate ticket to Niger Republic 2019.

However, he has now admitted that his decision to leave the Aba club is to accord him time to concentrate on tinkering the Flying Eagles.

His assistant, Usman Abdallah has since stepped up to take temporary charge of the two-time CAF Champions League winners, who play away to Williamsville of Cote d’Ivoire this weekend in the second leg of their CAF Confederations Cup fourth group clash.

Consequently, Aigbogun, who worked in United States of America and Britain, before returning home to handle Warri Wolves and later Enyimba in the first of two stints, will now solely handle the national youth team.

Aigbogun affirmed: “Combining Enyimba and Flying Eagles jobs was taking its toll on me, so I had to let go of one to concentrate on the other. I’m taking a rest for now. I would be traveling to London in two or three days’ time to see my family.” (Footballlive.ng)
