LMC probes ‘Owerri fracas’ as Plateau United condemns assault on team

By Daily Sports on April 26, 2018

The League Management Company (LMC) is studying the reports by the match commissioner and other officials to ascertain what actually happened during Monday’s Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) match between Heartland and Plateau United.

There were reports after the game at the Dan Anyiam Stadium that the match officials and some Plateau United players were assaulted by hooligans suspected to be supporters of Heartland, who were not satisfied with the referees’ handling of the game.

A senior LMC official, who pleaded anonymity, told The Guardian yesterday that the league body was studying the match commissioner’s report on the events at the stadium, adding that its findings would be made public soon.

“We have to be thorough in the investigation because this is a delicate issue. But I want to assure the teams that we will do the right thing,” he said. (The Guardian)
