2 braces as Lobi Stars fight back to beat visiting Rivers United

Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi on Sunday beat visiting Rivers United 3-2 in a Nigeria Professional Football League match played at the Aper Aku Stadium.

The hosts had to fight back to win in the game which witnessed two players scoring a brace each, in spite of their taking the lead.

Ezekiel Uba gave the hosts the lead in the 15th minute of the match, Salifu Oche scored in the 20th and 32nd minutes to put Rivers United in the driving seat.

Austine Ogunye restored parity in the 50th minute, before scoring the winning goal through a penalty kick in the last minute of added four minutes.

The win took Lobi Stars to 26 points from eight wins, two draws and four losses in 14 matches, moving to the top of the table in the process.

In a post-match interview, Lobi Stars’ coach Solomon Ogbeide described the match and its officiating as “very fair”.

“The game was a tough one, but we handled it,” he said. (NAN)
