More shocking revelations have emerged from the camp of the Super Falcons.
The Super Falcons Coach, Florence Omagbemi, is being owed 14 months salary in addition to allowances that accrued at the African women Championship, which the Falcons won in Cameroon.
Omagbemi was vilified by officials of the Nigeria Football Federation for allegedly inciting the players to press home the demand for the payment of their allowances and bonus after winning the African Women Nations Cup.
The players are said to be angry that they were not only being owed, they were deceived by the officials of the NFF.
However, the Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has said the players and their coaches would be paid their entitlements as soon as funds was available.
Dalung said: “Budgetary allocations have not been released due to the paucity of funds.
“We have also gone outside budget to provide for the associations.
“We plan to offset all the outstanding allowances.
“What we do is intervention.
“The federation must plan their activities to win the confidence of the players.
“What happened was a complete break in communication, which led to the crisis.
“Our ability to plan would lead to avoidance of embarrassment.
“Government can no longer fund sports alone, so we must mobilize the private sector to support sports.
“He affirmed that there was no crisis between the ministry and the NFF.
“The relationship with the Federation is very cordial.
“Our role is to give policy direction, but when they go wrong we also correct.” (NAN)
