Crisis is looming between the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick and his executive committee members over his blunt refusal to disclose to them how much the German technical adviser, of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, would be taking home as pay packet.
Daily Sports, reliably gathered from one of the bigwigs that was closely running the affairs of the Football House with him until now that the Delta State born administrator after the visit of FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, started running a one man show keeping everything to himself and this issue of not letting the committee members know how much the German would be earning was one of it and it may turn out to be his nemesis. Members are said to be utterly bitter about it and will firmly take him on, if he fails to back pedal.
“It won’t be business as usual for him any longer. Come to think of it, how on earth will he (Amaju) held close to his chest, how much the foreign coach employed by NFF we are all elected to oversee in a country of over 170 people earn. No, we will stampede him into realising that this is not his family company. He can choose to run on his wish and caprices. Not anymore. He is courting possible showdown unless he quickly reads the hand writing on the wall and retreat,” a member explained.
The source further revealed that even the Technical and Development committee that screened, interviewed and recommended the expatriate for the plum job were not privileged to have information on how much Rhor would be earning.
The source described the attitude and administrative style of Amaju as unbecoming, absurd and capable of causing disaffection within the entire executive committee members. His kind of management is too old fashioned and if you dare it, you become his marked enemy. However, this issue of not informing his colleagues in the board of how much a coach under their watch, will be taking home is not tenable, the visibly angry administrator insisted.
“I will tell you that this crop of executive committee members are the most cool headed and committed for the good of the game and its development without resorting to any form of wriggling all these while, otherwise if we had decided to follow him bumper to bumper, there would have been lots of rancor more than what we have so far witnessed from the National Assembly which won’t serve the best interest of the game. We were elected to administer to the best of our ability and knowledge. The chairman likes to super impose his influence on the majority but if not for the maturity of members that always avert open confrontation with him.”
