The maiden edition of the Real Estate Games was officially unveiled in Lagos on Thursday, with organisers promising a blend of collaboration and community impact, Saturday PUNCH reports.

Convener Amuda Marygold described the event as more than a sporting contest, stressing its wider purpose of uniting stakeholders across industries.

“Today, we are not just announcing a sporting event; we are unveiling a vision,” she said at the unveiling.

“A vision that brings together the real estate industry, government, corporate stakeholders and the wider community in a celebration of unity, collaboration and healthy competition.”

She added that the chosen theme, Beyond the Games, reflected the spirit of the initiative.

“While the Games will showcase teamwork, athleticism and sportsmanship, our mission goes further. We aim to foster stronger relationships within the real estate sector, promote wellness among industry professionals, highlight the socio-economic contributions of real estate to Lagos State, and create a platform that will inspire innovation, networking and long-term collaboration,” Marygold said.

She expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and partners for backing the project. “Your collaboration is proof that when we come together, great things happen,” she said.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, on October 24 and 25. Companies, chief executives and teams from across the sector are expected to participate, with firms such as Tribitat Real Estate, Arc View Real Estate Ltd, Akmodel Development Company, Billionaire Real Estate Group, Dakore Homes Limited and Assetrise Ltd already showing their commitment by attending the unveiling ceremony.

Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Idris Aregbe, told our correspondent that the government’s support was tied to its broader vision of promoting both business and culture in the city.

He noted that the Games were an opportunity to integrate enterprise with leisure. “When you look at Lagos, you see a city that is not just about commerce but also about culture, entertainment and sport. As people conduct business, they should also be able to unwind and get the best out of the city,” he said.

He emphasised the connection between real estate, sport and tourism, describing them as interwoven and interrelated. He explained that the government’s mission was to create an enabling environment where businesses thrive while residents and visitors enjoy a quality of life.

“This is one of the reasons Lagos State has chosen to support the Real Estate Games,” he said.

“It allows businesses and professionals to network, unwind and showcase the spirit of Lagos as a hub where commerce, sport and culture thrive together.”
