Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers, has assured Wilfred Ndidi he will get his chance in the starting lineup in the coming weeks, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Ndidi, who has been a mainstay in the Foxes starting lineup since he arrived at the club, has been handed cameo appearances recently after his season was blighted with injuries.
Despite that, the Nigerian has made 10 Premier League appearances.
Speaking ahead of Leicester City’s visit to Anfield for Friday evening’s showdown, Rodgers revealed that he had a fruitful discussion with the Nigerian on his bench role in recent games.
“We’ve got a really busy schedule in January, Rodgers said during his pre-match conference on Wednesday.
“I had a sit-down with him (Ndidi) and an honest conversation with him. He has struggled with injuries. It’s sometimes coming away from the team and working on the training field. I can see his freshness. There’s no doubt over the coming weeks he will get opportunities.”
Meanwhile, Ndidi could return to the starting lineup for the game on Friday following Dennis Praet injury.
The Belgian, who in recent times has become a force to reckon with in the Foxes squad, was caught in the back by the knee of Joelinton and had to come off after 17 minutes.
The severity of the Belgian’s issue is unclear, but he is expected to miss the game against Liverpool alongside Ryan Bertrand, Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Jonny Evans and James Maddison, whose troublesome knee injury is causing him grief once again.
