The President of the Nigeria Players’ Union (NANPF), Alhaji Dahiru Sadi MFR, and the union’s General Secretary, Comrade Austin Popo, have taken their campaign for improved players’ welfare to Aso Rock, the Nigerian seat of power.
The two NANPF top shots were part of a high-powered delegation of leaders of the umbrella body, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) that paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, in Aso Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.
Led by TUC President, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama, the delegation comprised members of the TUC National Administrative Council (NAC) and Central Working Committee (CWC), made up all Presidents General Secretaries of all TUC affiliates.
The next day the delegation also visited the Chairman of the league management Company (LMC), Alhaji Shehu Dikko, in his Abuja office.
Comrade Popo told Daily Sports that the visits were fruitful and that the one to the LMC Chairman was specially used “to discuss issues bordering on players’ welfare.”
Daily Sports reports that the Nigeria Players’ Union (NANPF) was recently recognised as a full-fledged trade union and issued a certificate in that regard by the relevant Nigerian government agency.
