Daniel Sturridge has put his wonder strike against Chelsea down to the fact Liverpool were running out of time to salvage a result.
With his side trailing 1-0 in the 89th minute of the Stamford Bridge encounter, the 29-year-old, who had only been on the field for 152 seconds, let fly with a spectacular curling strike from 30 yards that dipped over Kepa Arrizabalaga.
His 50th Premier League goal for the Reds earned him the Carling Goal of the Month Award for September, the first time he has received the honour.
"There wasn't much time left in the game," says Sturridge. "We had some opportunities earlier on and we were unfortunate not to take them and it was trying to get a result for the team.
"I was just trying to get myself in a position where I could receive the ball. I wasn't closed down and I looked up and saw where the goalkeeper's position was and took a shot."
Sturridge will be hoping to get the opportunity to show his eye for goal when Liverpool visit Huddersfield Town in the 17:30 BST kick-off on Saturday.
