Barcelona missed the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Spanish LaLiga table as they were held to a 1-1 away draw by struggling hosts Las Palmas on Thursday night.
Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo played for 90 minutes for Las Palmas and gave a very good account of himself, covering every blade of grass in midfield.
Nigerian forward Imoh Ezekiel was not included in the squad for Las Palmas.
Lionel Messi put Barcelona 1-0 up in the 21st minute off a brilliant free-kick.
But in the 48th minute, Las Palmas were back on level terms after Jonathan Calleri scored from the penalty spot.
Etebo, one of Las Palmas heroes from central midfield, received a yellow card in the second half after bringing down Messi who was striding towards goal.
The draw means Barcelona remain top on 66 points, still unbeaten but are now five points above second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Las Palmas are still in the relegation zone as they are 18th on 20 points, one point from safety. (Completesportsnigeria)
