MFM FC on Friday recorded their fourth win of the season courtesy of a first-half strike by star winger Sikiru Olatunbosun against visiting Akwa United at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
Olatunbosun hit target after 36 minutes, when he guided home a pass beyond goalkeeper Emmanuel Iwu.
Before then, Akwa United were twice denied a goal by the post in the 19th and 21st minutes.
MFM FC have now shot to eighth on the NPFL table with 12 points from eight matches, while Akwa United remain top of the standings on 16 points.
Both teams will have their league matches this weekend postponed because of their international engagements.
