Nigeria’s Sammy Ameobi ended his long barren spell to help Bolton Wanderers cruise to a 1-0 victory over Bristol City in Friday’s Championship game.
The 25-year-old last found the target in Bolton’s 3-3 draw at Sunderland in October 2017 and had since failed to add to his goals tally.
And against the Robins at Macron Stadium, Ameobi rediscovered his scoring form with his 71st-minute effort to hand Phil Parkinson’s men their seventh win after 29 games.
He picked up the ball in his own half, shrugged off the challenge of his marker, powered downfield and unleashed an effort into the bottom corner of Bristol net.
The goal was the former Newcastle United man’s third of the season, as his side moved out of the relegation zone to place 19th with 29 points from the same number of games.
Bolton Wanderers host sixth-placed Fulham in their next game on February 10.
