Nigeria coach Salisu Yusuf has said his team are capable of upsetting hosts Morocco in Sunday’s 2018 CHAN Final in Casablanca.
Nigeria and Morocco are playing in the championship game for the first time after both teams clashed in a thrilling quarterfinal four years ago in South Africa with the Eagles fighting from 3-0 down to win 4-3 in extra-time.
On Wednesday, Nigeria pipped Sudan 1-0 in Marrekesh after Morocco saw off Libya 3-1 in Casablanca.
The 56-year-old Salisu Yusuf may be grappling with growing injury worries ahead of Sunday’s showdown, but he has insisted the Eagles can now go all the way to make more history on the night.
“For the game against Morocco, any team is beatable,” said the former Enyimba coach, who in September led the core of this team to the final of the sub-regional WAFU where they lost 4-1 to hosts Ghana.
“If we do the right things, why not? We will beat Morocco.”
Sunday’s Final will kick off by 8pm Nigerian time inside the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
