Etebo joins Las Palmas on loan

By Daily Sports on January 31, 2018

Super Eagles and CD Feirense of Portugal striker, Ogenecarol Etebo has rejected an earlier planned move to Genk of Belgium, opting to join Spanish club, Las Palmas on loan.

The player, who had been a subject of interest from other clubs decided to team up with the Spanish club to get more exposure and secure a place in the Eagles World Cup bound team.

According to Chairman of  CD Feirense,  Kunle Soname: “There were so many offers for Etebo, but it was  in his best interest to join Las Palmas because he would be getting exposure, playing against top teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and others. This would guarantee him a place in the Eagles World Cup team. While it is not in the best interest of Feirense that he leaves, we have to put his career before every other considerations. If he does well at the World Cup, he may be in for a big move to a bigger club. But Las Palmas is a good club with huge followership.”

Etebo, who left Portugal last night was expected to sign today to beat the transfer deadline.

Las Palmas is currently 19th on the La liga table with 14 points from 21 games.

Etebo’s arrival is expected to change the team’s fortunes. (The Sun)
