Guinea, Mauritania out of 2018 CHAN

Guinea alongside their opponent, Mauritania in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2018 exited the tourney in spite of their 1-0 victory on Sunday.  

Ibrahim Sankhon scored the only goal against Mauritania at the Stade de Marrakech in Marrakech on Sunday evening.

Guinea finish third in Group A, four points off Morocco and Sudan while Mauritania were condemned to the wooden spoon following three straight defeats.

Sankhon's winning strike came within the 15th minute of the clash. The Guinea captain with a composed finish following great awareness from Daouda Bangoura who turned his man before teeing up his skipper for what proved to be the game's only goal.

Guinea will now start their search for a new head coach following Kanfory Mohamed 'Lappe' Bangoura's dismissal during the course of the on-going tournament. © Backpage TXT
