Kwese Premier League champions, Kano Pillars have secured their ticket for the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Final Round after beating compatriots Gombe Bull 75-60 on Friday in Lagos.
Pillars effectively took the game beyond the reach of their opponents in the second half as the Kano based side had only one point lead (29-28) when the two sides entered the locker-rooms Veteran Abubakar Usman, led the way with team-best 13 points. Ibrahim Yusuf and Dele Ademola poured in 12 points apiece while Abdul Yahaya added 11.
On their side, Gombe Bulls Abdulwahab Yakubu was at his best as he recorded game-high 14 points while three of his team-mates including Kator Gar, Chibozor Njoku and Sylvanus Yakubu combined for 34.
Sani Ahmed’s side will represent Nigeria at the continental showpiece for the second time in a row. The former national team coach commended his players for a job well done and insists that they are targeting a better result than their Fourth-Place at last year’s edition. (Vanguard)
