The Professional Golfers’ Association of Nigeria has appointed Kwara State Governor, Ahmed Abdufattah, a Life Vice President of the body.
Director of the association, Samson Lawal made the disclosure at the on-going 5th Kwara state Open, in Ilorin where he said the governor was being honoured because of his unwavering support for the game and investment in golf development in the state.
“His passion for the game has been highly commendable and he has contributed immensely to the game across the state. We believe with the level of support he has shown for the game, it is only right to honour him with our esteemed Life Vice President position of the body,” he said.
The Life Vice President is honour conferred on outstanding golf personalities by the Professional golf body.
Meanwhile, Abuja based Oche Odoh, is tied for the top place with Daniel Pam after both returned 141, three under par in the first-two rounds of the championship. Both players have ruled the Professional
Golfers’ Association’s Order of Merit in the past.
“I think the course’s set up is okay and the fairways are well kept. I hope the next two rounds go well for me. I look forward to winning this title,” says Odoh.
MicCom Golf and Country Club’s Sunday Olapade and Ghanaian Emos Korblah are tied for the third place with one shot behind the joint leaders.
Over 100 amateur players have signed up to join the contest for the 5th Kwara Open title from Saturday November 12, 2017, at the 18-hole Ilorin Golf Club.
Captain of the Club, Ola Maliki said the club is ready to host the number of players registered for the event.
“The course has been in good shape and the professionals have posted good scores all week, which is a sign that the course is in good shape.
We are also expecting that amateur players playing over the weekend will enjoy the same measure of excellence state of our facility” he said.
The event would be rounded off on Sunday with a prize giving gala at the club house, where Gov. Abdufattah would be decorated as a Life Vice President by the PGA officials
