Omeruo in against Algeria

By Daily Sports on November 6, 2017

Turkey-based defender Kenneth Omeruo has been handed a late Super Eagles call-up following a spate of withdrawals caused by injuries.

Ogenyi Onazi and Moses Simon are injured and look set to pull out of the Eagles forthcoming matches, officials disclosed.

A source close to the Chelsea loanee informed SCORENigeria coach Gernot Rohr has called and asked him to join the Eagles squad in Casablanca, Morocco, where the team are training ahead of a final 2018 World Cup qualifier in Algeria on Friday.

The Eagles will also take on Argentina four days later in a friendly in Russia.

“Kenneth said he has been called up by the coach because of injuries to some of the players,” the source said.

The central defender was last involved with the national team in June, when he was an unused substitute in an AFCON 2019 qualifier against South Africa in Uyo.

The Kasimpasa ace was placed on standby for the matches against Algeria and Argentina.
