Omeruo returns to Eagles against Algeria, Argentina

By Daily Sports on October 29, 2017

In-form Kasimpasa defender Kenneth Omeruo who is on loan to the Turkish side from English Premier League outfit Chelsea has been handed a recall to the senior national team of Nigeria by coach Gernot Rohr.

Rohr has omitted the player from his list for the last three games in the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers, with his last call up coming in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against South Africa where he was benched for Chidozie Awaziem in the 0-2 loss in Uyo.

The Franco-German coach has consistently maintained that the 24 year old need regular run of games before he can be called back into the team, and with Omeruo recent fine form for Kasimpasa has been handed a recall for the games against Algeria and Argentina.

Nigeria will play Algeria in a dead rubber World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie on the 10th of November ‎before taking on ‎Argentina in a high profile friendly game on the 14th in Russia.

Omeruo is not the only new name expected to be included in the squad that prosecuted the last three games for Nigeria as there is also a recall for Henry Onyekuru who was last called up for the game against South Africa.

Onyekuru will replace injured Chelsea ace Victor Moses, while Tyronne Ebuehi of ADO Den Haag who was on standby in the last Eagles list has been invited and he will most likely make his debut against Algeria.(Owngoal)
