Chile Azu and Ekunta Etenfa scored in the first half to give Go Round FC a 2-0 win over Gateway FC in a midweek duel and push closer to promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Azu scored in the ninth minute and then Etenfa converted a penalty in the 31st minute after captain, Nelson Esor was brought down in the box.

Go Round’s coach, Ngozi Elechi, expressed happiness with the win over Gateway and correspondingly, the draw promotion rivals, Bayelsa United got at Unicem Rovers.

“We performed very well. We played very well. In the last home match we played here, they did not live up to billing but today it shows they are up for it.

“The rain in the second half did not allow us to push front but over all we are happy we got the three points at stake and are still above Bayelsa United,” Elechi said

Gateway’s Shakitu Lawal said he was happy with the way he side played the game.

“It was a good game, but unfortunate we lost. They did well, according to instructions. We expected rain ball and decided for train for it,” he said.
